Today's tarot reading brings together the Son of Knives in the energy-of-the-day position and the Four of Baskets as guidance on how to transmute and use that energy.

As I sat with these cards from the Black Tarot deck, one message came through very clearly: You are frantically hunting and constantly fishing for the next catch, but the best way to fill your baskets is by looking within.

That is the heart of today’s reading.

Son of Knives: The Energy of the Day

There is a sharpness in the air today.

The Son of Knives brings quick, intelligent and restless energy. The mind may be moving faster than everything around it. You may feel more determined, more outspoken or increasingly impatient with anything that appears to be standing between you and where you believe you need to be.

There is power in this energy.

It can help you make a decision, pursue an idea, recognise something you have previously overlooked, or finally act upon something you have been thinking about for far too long. However, there is another side to the Son of Knives.

You can become so focused on finding the next thing that you forget to ask why you are searching in the first place.

The mind can become restless when it has convinced itself that fulfilment exists somewhere else. Suddenly, staying still feels uncomfortable. Waiting feels like failure. Having enough feels suspicious.

You start looking for something else to chase simply because chasing has become familiar.

The Son of Knives therefore asks you to use your sharpness differently today.

Instead of immediately asking, What should I pursue next?

Ask: What am I actually searching for?

When Searching Becomes a Distraction

There is nothing wrong with wanting more for yourself. Growth, ambition and curiosity can take us into extraordinary places, but there is a difference between expanding your life and constantly escaping the life you already have.

Sometimes we keep searching because it prevents us from sitting with ourselves. If we are forever planning the next move, chasing another possibility or looking towards the horizon, we never have to examine what is happening underneath all that movement.

The Son of Knives can make movement feel urgent, but urgency does not always mean importance.

Not every thought requires action, nor does every opportunity require pursuit. The wisest thing you can do with a sharp mind is turn it inward.

Four of Baskets: How to Transmute Today's Energy

The Four of Baskets changes the direction of the reading completely. The Son of Knives looks outward. The Four of Baskets asks you to look within. Instead of immediately casting your line again, this card asks you to stop and examine your own waters. What is already there? What have you overlooked?

What are you carrying that you have failed to recognise because you have been so focused on finding something new? The baskets may not actually be empty. You may simply have been looking in the wrong direction.

The Four of Baskets suggests that fulfilment does not always arrive through acquisition. It often arrives through recognition.

You may already have knowledge you have not fully used, possess creativity you have not explored, have opportunities that looked too ordinary to excite you, have relationships deserving deeper attention, or have the beginnings of what you keep searching for elsewhere.

The medicine of the Four of Baskets is therefore not simply to stop. It is to notice.

The Best Way to Fill Your Baskets Is by Looking Within

This is where the two cards meet. The Son of Knives gives you an active, searching mind.

The Four of Baskets gives that mind somewhere more meaningful to go.

Instead of using today's mental energy exclusively to scan the outside world for your next catch, use some of it to investigate yourself.

Ask yourself:

  • What am I actually hungry for?

  • What do I believe the next achievement will give me?

  • What am I hoping another person will provide?

  • What feeling do I imagine will arrive when I finally get the thing I am chasing?

  • What am I overlooking because it does not look new enough?

These questions aren't meant to stop you from moving forward. They are designed to make sure that when you do move, you move toward something rather than simply running away from stillness. Expansion and escape are different. There is also a difference between wanting more and never allowing yourself to experience enough.

Stop Chasing and Look Within

Your intelligence, curiosity and determination are useful, so redirect them.

Turn some of that searching energy inward. Sit beside your own waters for a while.

Look into them. Allow whatever has been hidden beneath all the movement to rise.

You may discover that your inner world holds far more wisdom, creativity, possibility, and nourishment than you realised.

Your baskets may not need another catch. They may simply need you to finally notice what is already inside them.

What are you constantly searching for outside of yourself, and what might change if you stopped chasing it long enough to look within?
